Shady Grove Farm U.P.
A small, family-run permaculture farm producing beyond organic food & farm goods.
Organic, soy & corn-free Grateful Eggs…laid by hippy chicks.
Homesteading in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
We began farming in 2002 in Gwinn, Michigan. We got into farming by simply trying to live a self-sustaining way of life. Of our 6.5 acres, we use about 2 acres for our intensive permaculture operation which includes laying hens, broilers, turkeys, sheep and pigs, along with varieties of vegetables, berries, fruits and medicinal plants. Many of our animals are heritage breeds. Our primary farm product is organically produced, soy/corn free Grateful Eggs…laid by hippy “chicks” and serve as the financial backbone to our homesteading endeavors.
“We are rich, we just don't have any money!” Randy Buchler
